Abstract

This article is dedicated the 65th birthday of the renowned scholar, Professor Shapulat Bazarovich Shaidullaev, Doctor of History. Professor Shaidullaev has made significant contributions to the study of epigraphy and archaeology of the ancient history of Southern Uzbekistan and Central Asia as a whole, as well as to the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the Surkhandarya region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The article examines the main stages of Sh.B. Shaidullaev's formation as a scholar, and the factors and events that influenced his research interests. His scholarly career is closely associated with two of Uzbekistan's largest institutions: the Ya. Gulyamov Institute of Archaeology (1982–2004) and Termez State University (2004 to the present). It was at the Ya. Gulyamov Institute of Archaeology that Sh.B. Shaidullaev developed into a professional archaeologist, whose research is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach and the use of new technologies. Under the scientific guidance of Shapulat Bazarovich, many master's students, independent researchers, and doctoral candidates not only pursue their studies but also actively participate in conferences and field expeditions.Currently, Sh.B. Shaidullaev heads joint Uzbek-Czech, Uzbek-Russian and Uzbek-French archaeological expeditions, ensuring the close integration of Eastern and Western archaeological experience within the framework of international cooperation.
