Archaeology of Tatarstan in the Works and Scientific Activity of N. A. Makarov (on the 70th Anniversary of Academician N. A. Makarov)

The article shows the contribution of academician N. A. Makarov to the development of Russian archeology and his influence on the formation of regional scientific research. The object of the analysis is the scientific works, methodological approaches and institutional activities of the scientist, and the subject is their influence on the study of trans-Eurasian historical and cultural processes. Special attention is paid to the study of key monuments of the Middle Volga region within the framework of general models of medieval urbanization and intercultural interactions. The role of N. A. Makarov . is defined. N. A. Makarov was involved in the development of cooperation with archaeologists of Tatarstan, which contributed to the transition from the study of antiquities in a narrow regional sense to their interpretation in the Eurasian scientific context. The introduction of interdisciplinary methods, the organization, with his direct participation, of joint projects, scientific forums and publishing initiatives ensured the growth of the empirical base, the formation of new research paradigms and integrated approaches in research activities. Contribution of N. A. Makarova had a significant influence on the formation of regional scientific schools, contributed to the formation of the all-Russian scientific space. His research and conceptual models allowed him to reinterpret the processes of colonization, urbanization, and trans-regional exchange in medieval Eurasia.
