The article summarizes and analyzes for the first time data on images on Early Iron Age ceramics of Eastern Europe. In the course of research aimed at identifying the features of images on ceramics in Early Iron Age art, data on the iconography of figures on objects made of bronze, bone, stone, as well as on pictographs and petroglyphs of Northern Europe, the Urals, and Western Siberia were drawn upon. A comparison of similar images revealed the presence of shared pictorial elements, sometimes traceable over vast areas – from the Upper Volga region to the Trans-Urals. The author interprets these data as evidence of active interaction among the populations inhabiting these regions during the Early Iron Age, including in the sphere of graphic creativity. In some cases, it was possible to establish the origins of pictorial canons and to identify local manifestations of traditions in graphic creativity.
