Abstract

The paper addresses the issues of analysis of the Ulus of Jochi armament complex on the basis of burial monuments. The author is convinced that the development of an integrated approach to the study of military archaeology and history of Eurasian nomads is required, and provides an example in the form of the results of studies on the archaeology of the nomadic burials of the Ulus of Jochi (the Golden Horde) conducted using the technique of statistical analysis of mass archaeological material. The archaeological source base of this study is composed of 1273 burial complexes revealed and investigated in the steppes of Eurasia. A total of 37.4% of these burials were containing armament items. This series is used by the author as a basis for conclusions on the nature of the armament of the nomadic population of the Golden Horde.
