Abstract

The study of the territory of the Narovchat settlement (the city of Mukhshi) (the village of Narovchat, Penza region) has been going on for more than 130 years, but there is still no complete picture of this medieval city. In addition to the authors of the article, such well-known scientists as A.A. Krotkov, A.Ye. Alikhova, M.R. Polesskikh, V.I. Lebedev, and Ye.D. Zilivinskaya studied the Narovchat settlement. Local historians also paid great attention to the study of the site. Among them are V.M. Terekhin, I.F. Sadin, O.V. Golubev, A.G. Sokhryakov, each of them made a contribution to the study of certain aspects of Mukhshi city. Nowadays the results of the studies are exhibited in the museums of the village of Narovchat and the city of Saratov, published both in articles and in several monographs. Museumification of architectural structures is planned.
