Abstract

The article deals with the summary of studies related to the research of the territory of the circulation of coins minted in the Mukhshi Ulus of the Golden Horde. Mukhshi city (now Narovchat - district center in the Penza Oblast) was a place of coinage. Mukhshi coins circulated all over the territory of the modern Penza Oblast, partially covered the Republic of Mordovia and Ryazan region, and almost completely the Saratov Oblast. Coins went on trade routes to the capital of the Golden Horde – Sarai-Batu (Selitrennoye settlement). In the other regions of the Volga river area and Ciscaucasia they were met rarely. Mukhshi coinage began
in the XIV century (the first dated coin refers to the year 709 of the Hijrah) and lasted, probably, till the end
of the 60s of the XIV century.
