Arrangement of Living Space in the Neolithic and Eneolithic of the Southern Trans-Urals

The paper aims to return to the data of well-known published sites of the Southern Trans-Urals and compare them with the materials of recent excavations in order to comprehend the issue of arranging living space in the Neolithic and Eneolithic period. The characteristic features of the sites in the region are noted – the presence of housing objects such as hearths, stone laying out, separate post-holes – without obvious traces of the dwellings themselves, as well as the active use of rocky outcrops and stone raw materials. An interpretation of the recorded remains as "sites" and "residential complexes" is proposed, ways of solving similar issues concerning to the Stone Age sites of other areas are given. It is assumed that it will help to solve certain methodological issues of the field and cameral stages of work and increase the source potential of the sites of the Southern Trans-Urals.
