Abstract

The paper represents the archaeological materials found in 2018 during the excavations of the settlement of Brusyany III, located in the south-western part of the Samara Bend. The materials belong to various epochs: from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. The finds of the Khazar and the Golden Horde periods were the most representative. The first of them is characterized by pottery fragments of the so-called "Sevryukaevo" – type made by the pastoral population of Samara Bend in the end of the VIII–IX centuries. The period of the XIII–XIV centuries includes ceramics of groups I (wheel-made pottery in the traditions of Volga Bulgaria), VII (hand-made pottery of Ural origin) and XIV (hand-made pottery with a finishing on a circle, similar to ceramics of Russian area) according to the classification of T.A. Khlebnikova, and a number of items characterizing of the crafts of the Golden Horde period settlement population. It is assumed that the majority of its inhabitants were the ancient Russian population, together with whom people from the Urals lived.
