Abstract

During archaeological studies on the Isker settlement, the capital of the Siberian Khanate, an iron key with forked ends for squeezing spring units was found. Similar keys are known from Tver and Pskov, the Rozhdestvenskoye settlement and the Crimea. A padlock for such keys with two longitudinal key holes was revealed during studies in Pskov. Dating of such devices – XV–XVI centuries. The existing classifications do not include locks with such features. These mentioned keys and the lock to them, according to the features of the keyhole and the design of the keys can be referred to a separate type "И", based on the principles
of B.A. Kolchin’s classification. Similar padlocks were used by the dwellers of Russian medieval cities, the population in the Cis-Ural region, Khanate of Sibir and Crimean Khanate.
